I’ve been using RoutineFlow recently to help improve my productivity, and I love it! Initially, it was a bit overwhelming to consider all the different routines I could create. I quickly found myself trying to perfect everything right away. As a bit of a self-help enthusiast, this app fits perfectly into my life. Here’s some advice when starting with the app:
- Aim for progress, not perfection. I struggled at first with trying to make everything in the app flawless. This led to delays and prevented me from using the app to its full potential. Just start by making one routine and slowly add to it until it fits your lifestyle and needs. Don’t overwhelm yourself – too much at once will hinder your progress and make using the app less enjoyable.
- DO NOT FORGET exercise. Many people neglect exercise, but even a small amount of physical activity each day will greatly improve your mood and well-being. Incorporate nature for even more benefits, but start small if you’re new to exercise. Begin with a 10-minute walk and gradually increase the duration over time.
- USE THE REMINDERS. I can get easily distracted, so the reminders help me stay on track. For example, I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning. It’s the weekend, and getting up at 4 AM can be tough! A gentle nudge from the app reminded me it was time to get moving.
- Voice notifications are helpful. I find the voice reminders beneficial for staying on task and feeling motivated. For longer tasks, having the app announce when I’m halfway finished keeps me going!
- Start with your morning routine. If you’re not sure where to begin, a morning routine is a great foundation. Here’s what mine looks like:
- Drink water
- Stretch
- Let the dog out
- Make coffee
- Exercise (cardio)
- Eat breakfast
- Brush teeth
- Shower
- Check in with family
- Plan the day
- Check email and work tickets
I plan on refining my routines over time, but I know they will always be evolving!
